Ceetak’s multi-shot moulding is an innovative manufacturing process used to produce complicated mouldings in multiple materials.
The multi-shot injection process optimises the co-polymerisation of hard and soft materials (typically TPE elastomer compounds and plastic) to create a powerful molecular bond.
The multi-shot moulding process can also be used as a cost effective method to bond materials in different colours for cosmetic purposes.
The 1st material is injected into the top cavity; the mould opens and rotates 180° to move the pre-formed parts to the bottom half.
The 1st material is again injected into the top cavity, while the 2nd material is injected into the bottom cavity to complete the multi-shot process.
The parts are then ejected from the tool and the cycle starts again.
The benefits of multi-shot moudling include:-
- Cost reduction – Part cost savings as mouldings are produced in single tool, meaning reduced running costs and no requirement for post-moulding processes
- Fewer component parts – Reduced labour and assembly costs
- Reduced cycle times – Both phases of material injection occur at the same time
- Powerful molecular bond – Reliable and good quality products
The multi-shot moulding process allows us to design and manufacture complex, multiple material parts for our customers; we have designed products in the pneumatic, automotive, plumbing and electrical markets.
Multi-shot moulding can be used for a variety of product designs across all industries.
