Ceetak sponsorship of Star Rowing Club – 2014 Regatta

The Ray Baron boat Star Rowing Club is an amateur and voluntary Bedford based rowing club which offers an opportunity to all ages and abilities to take up the sport of rowing.

Star Club was formed in 1960 by former National Service members of RAF Cardington Rowing Club, which had established itself at the top level by its first eight being invited to compete for the honour of representing England in the 1958 Empire Games. Coached by Ted Poynter many crew members (after having attained such a high level) on discharge decided to remain in the Bedford area to find jobs and continue their rowing.

Over the years Star Club has developed a reputation for producing Olympic and world-class athletes and has been supported by a team of highly qualified voluntary coaches. As a voluntary rowing club it relies heavily on sponsorship from local organisations in order to continue to provide its excellent facilities for children and young adults in the local area.

Star Regatta 2014 Ceetak has offered sponsorship to Star Club since 2012 and has strong connections to the Club as (now retired) Chairman Ray Baron was of the founding members.

Star Club hosted its own Regatta on Bedford’s River Ouse on Saturday 7th June. The club was successful in 13 events which is a testament to the hard work and dedication from the members and coaches, and showcases the abilities of the young rowers who are evolving through the Club.

Star on the River Ouse As an organisation we are proud to offer sponsorship to a Club that supports the local community and ensure that children and young adults get the chance to pursue their interests in a fantastic sport.
